SALARY
INDICATOR
Welcome to the Salary Indicator, which has been designed (for
Indian professionals working in India) to help you evaluate
your market value in the job market!
1.
The indicator has been designed based on salary levels prevailing
as on 1.5.2005 and will be updated regularly.
2.
Salary means gross pre-tax salary (CTC) inclusive of all components
(monthly, annual, retiral and deferred payments).
3.
Accuracy levels: It is our expectation that the salary indicator
will be 90% accurate within a band of +/- 20% of the indicated
salary figure i.e. 90% of persons will fall within the band.
The
only possible exceptions would be salaries of CEOs/Executive
Directors/Executive VPs. Although in most (60%-80%) such cases
the salary indicator would give correct readings, the levels
of the upper band in some cases could go as high as 100% or
even more! After all, these professionals are ultimately responsible
for the bottom-lines of their organizations. And no salary
would be adequate for a top-class performer!!
4.
Reasons for the +/- 20% band: The main reason is valuation
of certain salary components (housing, transport, conveyance
etc.) which depend on the cost of living across different
cities in India (e.g. HRA/value of company leased accommodation
varies from city to city and even within a city from one suburb
to another. Quite often the accommodation provided is owned
by the employer or is in the company colony where valuation
may have been done on historical basis).
5.
How to use the salary indicator: The salary indicator is extremely
simple to use. Enter the parameters given below and know your
